Tokyo for the day

Live at Budokan

Imperial Palace

Goose, or Swan, or Crane... I think it's a Swan

When I was 16 I got the Cheap Trick album, "Live at Budokan." Remember, "I want you... to want me." and all of the screams. Maybe I'm the only one that remembers. I went to Tokyo for the All-Japan High School Team Judo Tournament on Wednesday. It was at Budokan. In the afternoon I walked around the Imerial Palace and took pictures before heading home.

New York

37,000 ft above somewhere north of Lake Huron.

United Nations General Assembly Hall.

Rockefeller Center

King Kong Building

I visited New York for the first time last week. During the flight I couldn't do justice through photography of Mt. McKinley below our airplane, about twenty miles south, just before sunrise. Massive. And beyond that in the distance a saucer of lights which was Anchorage about an hour before sunrise. Instead, take a look at the lake country north of lake Huron... AND the curve of the earth. Many of my students don't know the name "Empire State Building," but everyone knows where King Kong headed when visiting. Not as massive as Mt. McKinley, but pretty dang big.

Weekend in February

The top picture (Poles and Frames) was taken the day after the snowy picture in the previous post. All of the snow was gone within a week. The second picture is a poster advertising a local Hip Hop Dance Club Performance. There were about 30 elementary school students in the group, dancing in unison to various hip hop artists. A local gospel choir performed, and a group of high school students, including some of mine, guest-starred. The bottom picture is a note on the cafe where about 25 people had a going away party for the boy.
